HOSPITALITY TRENDS
1
Tailored
Personalization
An IHG Hotels & Resorts study demonstrated that 78% of guests place excellent, personalized service above all other factors in booking a hotel stay. “Now more than ever, personable service is top priority. As the travel landscape evolves, service is key to meeting guest expectations,” according to Will Yell, VP of IHG’s luxury and upscale affiliate brands.
2
Terroir
LocalTerroir is the idea that wine carries specific characteristics imparted by the environment in which it is produced. In the same way that consumers have placed greater value on locally crafted goods, guests are assigning greater value to stays that reflect a sense of place. They seek accommodations that provide greater separation from the everyday and direct connections to their setting - both culturally and to the landscape itself.
3
Sustainable
Luxury
Accommodations that demonstrate environmental stewardship in both construction and operation are winning guests over traditional hotels. At the same time, technological advances are enabling greater efficiency without compromising comfort allowing for truly sustainable luxury practices rather than greenwashed marketing.
4
Remote
Exclusivity
The disruption of common paces of life have led to a rising trend in seeking remote, secluded locations as a form of escape from urban living. Travelers seek options that provide greater privacy and tranquility. This trend is not relegated to individual vacationers but is also being seen in group, corporate travel as guests are able to utilize web-based solutions to accomplish the same objectives as in larger, urban venues.
5
Meaningful Minimalism
High-end travelers are gravitating towards minimalist design that emphasizes simplicity and elegance while offering high-quality amenities and services. It’s design that seeks to reduce friction throughout the experience from providing for smooth arrival and check-in to minimizing separation between interior and exterior spaces allowing guests to feel immersed in the landscape while sitting in absolute comfort.
