Parker M. Stuckey
Founder
For generations, the Stuckey Family has been known for their ability to share a great story. To do that well requires living a story worth sharing. That means sharing stories of pure grit and determination like Parker's grandfather running away from his dirt-floored home at 12 years old before building the largest residential construction company in Texas. It also means sharing how generations of service to others have resulted in churches, hospitals, and dorms now carrying the family's name. In the end, it means living in a way that reflects his family's legacy of actively pursuing full, abundant life and inviting others along for the adventure.
About Me
Growing up surrounded by blueprints, cement-encrusted boots, and spinning boardroom chairs instilled a love for design, the built environment, and the businesses that make it possible. That meant pursuing greater knowledge and understanding of design and construction through apprenticeships that ranged from working on conceptual design teams at boutique firms to finishing concrete with large industrial companies before completing his degrees in Environmental Design and Construction Science at Texas A&M University.
Thesis work included analyzing the operations of organizations like Habitat for Humanity and community development corporations to minimize cost and increase effectiveness by value-engineering their design and processes. As a result, he gained a deep and detailed understanding of how design and construction choices impact budgets but also functionality and livability for the life of a structure.
With that background in hand, Parker became the Vice President of Wright Homes a subsidiary of Röhe & Wright Builders in his 3rd year after graduation. In his time there, he designed and built custom homes in Houston's most affluent neighborhoods while simultaneously overseeing construction for multiple community development corporations in Houston's most impoverished areas.
In 2006, Parker launched Parker Stuckey Residential, a design and construction company focused solely on luxury, super-custom homes. His projects have received numerous awards within the design and construction industries including recognition as the best architectural designer in Houston by the Greater Houston Builder's Association. Today, the firm is focused on design and construction supervision of custom vacation homes.
Ministry has always been an important aspect of his life including serving as a volunteer and staff member with Young Life. In his most recent role, Parker was asked to launch and oversee ministry in Austin's affluent, private school communities. The role included establishing creative camping opportunities which allowed thousands of kids to encounter the true beauty of the natural environment. That meant envisioning and coordinating everything from dining at banquets for 120 people on islands in the middle of Lake Powell, climbing the peaks of provincial parks on the coast of British Columbia, and in one instance, working with governors of three states to re-write laws that allowed 250 kids to travel from Texas to Colorado & Arizona during the pandemic.
Parker has also served on the executive committee for Trail West Lodge, a family camp outside of Buena Vista, Colorado for the last 10 years. His role includes providing input on the built environment of the property as well as programming and hospitality components. During his time, the non-profit property shifted from years of deficit to excess - including weathering the pandemic shut-downs. It is now operating at 95% occupancy with a waitlist of more than 12 months and is able to pour funds into infrastructure and expansion.
It's a career that has often meant simultaneously creating and implementing grand vision while managing minute details. It has meant working with some of the most elite members of our society while also focusing on the betterment of some that our world treats as the least significant. As a result, Parker has a unique understandings of true luxury, nobility of service, and genuine hospitality that he is excited to bring to Ansel Hotel Co.
